77-Inch LG G5 OLED Mounted on a Plasterboard Wall in Gidea Park

This 77-inch LG G5 OLED was mounted in Gidea Park using its original flush wall bracket. The plasterboard concealed metal studs and an approximate 30mm cavity, so the bracket position, fixing points, recessed power point and cable route had to be considered together before mounting began.

Project Overview

This 77-inch LG G5 OLED installation required careful planning because the plasterboard wall contained metal studs and the original LG bracket needed the screen to sit close to the wall. The available stud was used alongside six metal toggle fixings, while a recessed power point and concealed HDMI and Ethernet cables allowed the television to be mounted level with a clean, flush finish.

Using the Metal Stud and Six Toggle Fixings

The wall check found metal studs behind the plasterboard rather than timber. Some of the LG bracket’s fixing positions aligned with an available metal stud, but the full bracket layout could not rely on that stud alone. The available stud was used where the bracket positions allowed. Six plasterboard metal toggle fixings were then used across the remaining positions. This method was chosen for the wall construction, original LG bracket and agreed screen position on this installation. A different stud layout, bracket or television could require another fixing method.

Planning the Power Position Before Mounting

The original LG bracket is designed to hold the television close to the wall. A power connection in the wrong position could obstruct the bracket or prevent the screen from sitting as intended. TV Mount Mate advised on the required power position before the mounting appointment. A separate electrician then installed a recessed power point behind the television. This kept the power connection out of the bracket’s path. The HDMI and Ethernet cables were also concealed behind the screen, so neither cable was left hanging below the television.

The Finished Installation

The 77-inch LG G5 OLED now sits level and close to the wall using its original LG bracket. The fixing layout made use of the available metal stud and the plasterboard cavity, while the pre-planned power position allowed the bracket to sit as intended.
