Yes, Sky Glass Gen 2 can be wall mounted. Sky’s official Gen 2 guidance says the work must be completed by a professional, reputable installer with experience wall mounting televisions. It does not state that the installer must be a Sky-branded engineer.
Sky publishes the following weights without the stand: 12.7kg for the 43-inch, 19.2kg for the 55-inch and 26.5kg for the 65-inch. I have personally mounted all three Sky Glass Gen 2 sizes.
The television’s weight is only one part of the assessment. The wall construction, mounting system, available fixing positions, socket and cable clearance, required screen position and lifting arrangements must all work together.

Does Sky Glass Gen 2 Need a Special Wall Mount?
Sky Glass Gen 2 has an integrated mounting arrangement, and Sky offers a bespoke Wall Mount designed for it. However, the official mount is not the only option.
Sky’s Gen 2 product announcement states that its bespoke mount tilts, swivels and sits flush against the wall. Sky also confirms that Gen 2 is compatible with universal TV mounts.
I have installed Gen 2 televisions using the official Sky Wall Mount and compatible third-party fixed, tilting and full-motion brackets. Some customers choose a third-party bracket because it costs less or because a different wall-plate design, profile or movement better suits the proposed position.
A bracket that fits the television can still be wrong for the complete installation. Its wall plate might not align with usable fixing positions, it could cover an existing socket, or it might leave insufficient clearance for the power connector.
A mount should not be chosen from the television size alone. Its compatibility and stated capacity must suit the television, but the wall construction, fixing positions, required movement and cable clearance must also work for the complete installation.

Can Sky Glass Gen 2 Be Mounted on Plasterboard?
Yes, Sky Glass Gen 2 can sometimes be mounted on plasterboard after the complete wall construction has been assessed. The visible plasterboard surface does not show the whole fixing arrangement behind it.
The board’s condition matters, along with whether it is single or double layer, whether timber or metal framework is present, where the usable framework sits, which mount is being used and where the customer wants the television positioned.
There is no single maximum television weight that applies to every plasterboard wall. Not every fixing must necessarily enter a stud, but the complete fixing arrangement must be suitable for the identified wall, television and mount.

On one 55-inch Sky Glass Gen 2 installation, the wall was new, undamaged double-layer plasterboard with metal studs behind it. I identified the construction with a stud finder and a small inspection hole. The usable framework aligned with the required mounting position, and a compatible third-party mount was used.
I considered that arrangement suitable because the board was new and undamaged, the metal framework had been identified and usable framework aligned with the mount. The exact fixings and quantity are not recorded, so I will not publish or estimate them.
If the framework or fixing positions had not provided a suitable arrangement, or the wall construction or condition had remained uncertain, I would have reconsidered the mount, method or position before drilling.
How Size and Weight Affect the Installation
I use a two-person lift for the 43, 55 and 65-inch Sky Glass Gen 2. This is my own professional working method rather than a claim that every manufacturer instruction sets exactly the same rule.
The built-in soundbar changes how the television can be gripped. Screen width, balance, grip points, panel fragility and engagement with the mount must all be considered alongside the published weight.
The manufacturer’s weight is important, but it is not the only handling consideration. The television’s dimensions, built-in soundbar, grip points, balance and correct engagement with the wall mount also matter.
Once the television has been lifted, I physically confirm that both sides are correctly engaged with the mount before either person releases it. I would not recommend attempting to lift and mount any Gen 2 size alone.
Socket, Power-Cable and Rear-Clearance Checks
The position of an existing socket can affect where the wall plate is installed. A mount can be firmly fixed to the wall but still be unsuitable if it covers the socket or leaves insufficient space for the plug and cable.
A close-to-wall finish only works if the power connector is not trapped or pressed against the rear of the television. When a mount extends or swivels, the cable also needs sufficient clearance to move without being pulled or pinched.
During the Walthamstow installation described below, an existing socket was directly behind the customer’s requested screen position. The wall plate would have conflicted with it at the original height, so the proposed position had to be reconsidered before drilling.
No electrical work was completed during the Walthamstow installation. The issue was resolved by changing the approved television height rather than moving or altering the socket.
What Happens During a Sky Glass Gen 2 Installation?
The exact method depends on the television, mount, wall and required position, but my general process is:
Confirm the television size, selected mount and required movement.
Inspect the wall construction and condition.
Agree the final height and position with the customer.
Check the socket, connector and cable clearance.
Calculate where the wall plate must be installed.
Fix and level the mount using a method suitable for the assessed wall.
Complete the agreed two-person lift.
Physically confirm that the television is engaged on both sides.
Check the level, locking points, mount movement and cable pressure.
Confirm the television and sound are working and clean the working area.

A 43-Inch Sky Glass Gen 2 Installation in Walthamstow
On 28 May 2026, I mounted a 43-inch Sky Glass Gen 2 on a brick wall in Wood Street, Walthamstow, E17. The television is recorded as Gen 2 from my installation record and first-hand knowledge of the job.
The customer wanted the television centred above a radiator using the official Sky Wall Mount.
The existing power socket was directly behind the proposed position. At the original requested height, the mount’s wall plate would have conflicted with the socket. The wall plate could not simply be moved sideways while keeping the television centred.
I explained the conflict before drilling. The customer approved a slightly higher position that retained the required centre line while avoiding the socket.
Radiator clearance and heat were also discussed and checked before the position was approved. The final height was therefore different from the customer’s first request, but the change was agreed before any holes were drilled.
No electrical work was completed, and no trunking or internal cable concealment was installed. The power cable was secured with a cable tie so that it was not trapped or placed under pressure by the mount.
The installed mount extended away from the wall, swivelled left and right and folded back close to the wall. I did not check its vertical tilt during this installation, so I am not claiming that movement as part of this particular project.
After mounting, the television remained centred above the radiator at the revised, customer-approved height. I checked that the television and sound were working before cleaning the area and leaving.
This does not mean every television can be mounted above every radiator. The wall, heat direction, clearances, mounting system and requested position must be considered for the individual installation.
